An Afghanistan veteran has become a multi-millionaire overnight as he won more than £13 million on a slot machine jackpot at Betway Casino. Jon Heywood from Crewe deposited £30 to play and was only making bets of 25p when he became a winner on his seventh spin. He had only been playing for seven minutes on the Mega Moolah slot machine when he won the life changing amount of money.
Jon has traveled all over the world with the army, which included a tour of Afghanistan. The first thing that he plans to do with the money is to pay for the best possible healthcare for his father who is awaiting a heart and lung transport. He is quoted as saying that he would gladly return the money if it meant that his father was well again. He also plans to treat the rest of his family, who he describes as the most important thing in his life, to a luxury cruise.
Other purchases that he has planned include a new car,with a yellow Bentley Continental convertible GT being top of his shopping list. He currently drives a Fiat Punto and admits that he has never allowed himself to even dream about owning a car like a Bentley.
On the night that he had realised that he had won, he was told by the company that he would need to keep his win quiet until they were able to arrange the publicity for making an official announcement. The win came on a Tuesday night, with the announcement being made on the Friday. Jon admits that he found it difficult to keep quiet but managed to do so, even going to work as normal the following day.
Jon’s win is believed to the the largest prize that has been won on a slot machine game that has been played online. The previous record was set in Finland in 2013, but the current exchange rate means that this win is higher than that record.
